One of the most sacred sites in Theravada Buddhism, and part of the UNESCO-listed Sacred City of Kandy.

A Buddhist temple complex on the northern edge of Kandy Lake, housing a tooth relic believed to be the Buddha's. The main shrine sits inside a walled compound rebuilt multiple times over the past four centuries after fires and attacks.
